Seeclub
The hotel’s private beach on the lake: pale sand, blue-striped cabanas and the Alps beyond.
Seeclub
Munich has no sea, but it has its lakes. About 30 kilometres away, on the shore of the Starnberger See, the Seeclub is the private beach of the Palais Maximilian: pale sand and pebbles, a calm, clear lake for swimming in summer, spruce and beech woods on the far shore and the Alps on the horizon.
Fourteen cabanas with blue stripes, forty white loungers, a wooden jetty with a vintage mahogany boat. The beach bar serves simple food, from the lake and the season; stand-up paddle boards and kayaks can be hired, and the vintage boat takes guests out on the water by the hour.
The Seeclub is open from May to September, daily from 10:00 to 20:00. The hotel transfer leaves at 10:00, 12:00 and 14:00 and takes about 35 minutes; return journeys are at 16:00, 18:00 and 20:00, with other times on request.

Pale sand by the lake
A beach of sand and pebbles, clear fresh water for swimming, the Alps in the distance.
14 cabanas, 40 loungers
White canvas cabanas with blue stripes and white loungers in a row, for a day in the shade or the sun.
Jetty and vintage boat
From the wooden jetty the mahogany boat, its brass polished, sets out for a trip on the lake.
Hotel transfer
Three departures a day from the palais, about 35 minutes by road; returns at 16:00, 18:00 and 20:00.
The jetty and the vintage boat
A long wooden jetty reaches out into the lake. Moored beside it, the vintage boat in varnished mahogany, with brass cleats, waits for those who want to see the shore from the water, when the lake is calmest and the light softest. Trips are booked by the hour and run with a skipper; meanwhile the jetty is the place to sit with a glass in hand.

The cabanas
Inside the cabana, a large daybed with white linen and navy cushions, light curtains stirred by the breeze off the lake, a rattan table with lemonade and fresh fruit. The open side faces the water and the wooded shores; one can read, doze, or order from the beach bar without getting up. The cabana is taken for the whole day.

The beach bar
A white wooden counter, rattan stools and a canvas awning, lemons and glasses lined up, and the lake behind. From the beach bar come the lunch dishes (grilled lake fish, salads, meat from the grill and a seasonal dessert), a picnic to take onto the sand, and well-chilled cocktails and white wine.
